World-Leading Technology Lifecycle & Expense Management

MDSL's Management team

Ben Mendoza - Chief Executive Officer

Ben Mendoza

Ben founded MDSL in 1995 with a vision to provide financial trading organisations with an extensible software solution to revolutionise the approach to managing complex, market data services costs across global enterprises. MDSL’s Market Data Manager solution, (which he originally designed and wrote) quickly became accepted as the de facto industry standard. Today, Market Data Manager remains the world leader in global financial market data expense management.

Realising that the global approach used for managing complex financial instruments could be applied equally to other adjacent technologies, in 2003 MDSL (now with a significantly larger development team) introduced Telecom Expense Manager (TEM). Hosted in MDSL’s “private cloud”, TEM was one of the first cloud-based expense management solutions for global fixed line and mobile telecom services. Since then, MDSL has evolved its hosted technology platform into a full global Information Technology Expense Management Architecture, capable of incorporating essential emerging technologies as they become adopted by customers.

Ben's technology career began in 1974 and has included telecommunications engineering with BT, applied electronics design with Marconi Space & Defence Systems, data network design with Timeplex and North Sea oil platform systems implementations with Marathon Oil UK. He founded his first company in 1984: Digital Networks International (DNI) was an independent IT consultancy providing data and network design and implementation services to customers such as Lehman Brothers, BAII and Target Group. In 1987, he started developing enterprise software applications, creating the HDE Help Desk system. HDE customers included BT, BP Oil, Barclays Bank, Robert Fleming & Co and Levi Strauss & Co.

Lesley brings an extensive background in financial trading and other markets. Prior to MDSL she worked with a range of large banks and brokers in the City of London, culminating as Head of Settlements for a US broker.

Lesley left the City to concentrate on her family and study for an MBA, returning to full-time employment initially as a director of Digital Networks International and subsequently as a founding director of MDSL.
